Are newcomers welcomed?
Hey guys! I just got into HA not too long ago and I was wondering if ppl find people based on their rank and fame? Would I be better off finding some guildies? Thanks!

You would be much better off finding a guild that will accept you unless you don't mind running randomway.

Guild or friendslist (basically the same) are your best shot of getting some fame.
After you got some ranks you can join others to get even more fame.
Just try it out. We all started there and most of us made it some steps higher up the ladder.

You're better finding some guildies or making some pvp friends
Most people in Heroes Ascent are "rankist" meaning if they say like rank 8/9+
It all depends on the people that are in the group if they don't mind a lower rank or not. People have the general idea that if you're not ranked you don't have experience in that area. Which is not the case, rank really means nothing, I have friends that play better than some rank 9 people. Sadly people seem to think the opposite.

Im old to HA BUT im unranked due to this being new account, its very hard for me to get in groups because im not ranked even tho i have all skills unlocked and i know alot about pvp. So i advise you to find a guild recruiting r3+ pple or sumthing and ask nicely if u can join TO LEARN and eventualy participate, if u get flogged thn try another guild

Experienced players don't want inexperienced players in their teams. Doesn't mean inexperienced players don't want to play with other inexperienced people. If you aren't willing to put in the effort to form your own groups or meet people like you then don't bother trying to get into HA.

Just look at what is common in the local chat. If you see a profession that is in high demand find out the bar so you can have it ready.
When I am waiting for friends and guildies I join whatever ORGANIZED unranked team is forming and I dont know what people are complaining about, there is always an unranked pug forming from my experience. And it gives me something to do while waiting. Granted you dont get much fame off it but its more than I used to get when I first started out.
When I was unranked and would get in a good team that would win a few consecutives I would take a screenshot so I had the party list to refer back to, and every night I would see how many of that group I could get to reform a team. I would also tell the team in team chat to take a screenshot of the group so that they could do the same.

Yeah this is how i got started sorta. who would have thought an unranked balanced PuG could get 6+ consecutives
I started to ask the same group of people every time (well, at least in my profession. i rarely played with monks who werent in that team in the end )
and the same results kept comming in. could have maybe even formed a guild out of it.
Stick at it, GW has a steep learning curve. It's really hard to find good pugs and it's gotten harder as the game has progressed. Try to stick away from imba gimmick builds if you can because although they do rake in the fame, they don't really improve actual player skill and once the build is nerfed you are pretty much screwed.

i would say if you aren't familiar to pvp at all just get the feel of pvp at ra or ta and then come ha. Getting the grip of basic pvp knowledge never hurts

Yep agree with swift.
It might be hard to get your r3 (to get into r3 guilds or pugs) when you are unranked in any title in PVP. So you might start doin PVP in RA,TA (prefer RA as start). Because in RA/TA you will learn the basics of PVP and you will learn every build if you play correctly .
Then when you have glad r1 or 2 you can mostly join a r3+ guild or pug. But then you can make a choice. Rank up till r6 or something with lame fame builds like sway or play and learn PVP with playing balanced builds (mostly a bit harder in the beginning as unranked). I say get rank 3 (very easy to get) and find a guild thats r3+ and play balanced builds (try to make your own builds etc, they work the best).

If you are new to pvp I advice to play some RA,TA and AB first before starting with HA.
Groupes always lf ranked people. Rank doesn't say much but it does say the expierence. thats why people who need pugs look for ranked ones. I advice you to find a pvp guild and make some friends tot pvp with, that's how everyone started. It's sometimes hard to get your first fame but it's fun

Ever since the advent of observer mode, im still amazed that people say they cannot get a group for HA because of RANK.
You have obs mode, theres a whole host of things you can do with it if you dont know wtf to do. For starters, new/less experienced players should NOT be trying to invent a new FotM build straight away. You should copy. Yes you will get crap from everyone about copying builds. But this cuts your learning curve in half. Instead of learning build design AND tactics, you only learn tactics now.
Now that you have obs and /copy. FORM A GROUP. Gogo vent + mic. FYI pugs fail, use friends. If you dont have friends make friends. It will take you a few weeks if you are new, to learn tactics on all the maps and best strategies.
After youve learned tactics, THEN you may create your own build.

You can do whatever. Actually making builds early on (if they turn out to be good) can attract high rank people. It just depends who you meet.
Nothing is set in stone.
